Here’s the financials of that arrangement.

A second-hand Verifone Vx675 terminal will cost you $499 plus GST. That’s $573.85 including GST.

Because Paymark, the company that handles all the transactions, requires that all terminals be replaced with more modern units by April 30 2023, these machines have a lifetime of 3 ½ years. That means you would have to depreciate the unit by $164 per year.

Your other costs are $18 per month Paymark processing charge, and annual costs of $120 software license and $20 data on the SIM card.

Putting that all together your annual cost will be $526 or $43.88 a month including GST. Compare that to $69 a month on a 36 month lease contract and you will be $906 better off.
